100 Years!

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

I know this is New England but here’s my question! Aren’t you intrigued by the IZOD Indy Car Series coming back to New Hampshire Motor Speedway? I interviewed points leader Will Power of Team Penske, Justin Wilson of Dreyer &  Reinbold Racing  and Simona De Silvestro of HVM Racing today when they were in the Boston area for a media blitz and all three qualified over the weekend for the 100th Anniversary of the Indy 500! Gotta love it, and Silvestro qualified ahead of Danica Patrick! So what do you think-is she the next BIG Thing!

What’s the point-get it!

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

Hey race fans, isn’t it kind of stupid watching all those drivers in the Nationwide and the Camping World Truck Series competing for championships knowing that the champion will go through an entire season without winnintg a single race! Yah, that’s right, all 43 drivers vying for a championship in both of those series will likely not win a single race while Cup drivers are allowed to compete-oh, I forgot about Johnny Sauter…okay, one driver will win one race.

See you tomorrow

“Have at it boys!-Really?”

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Hey race fans..another head twister from N ASCAR..who said they were going to let the drivers race this year..I guess not..but seriously, this stuff we’re seeing now, like last saturday night’s  wishy-washy attempt by Harvick and Busch to inmitate a Yarborough and Allison is nothing compared to the fights and brawls of yesteryear!

Great openings this weekend..the Plains will have all divisions and the ACT Series Sunday..gotta love it..and Dover welcomes the Sprint Cup..I picked Johnson but I’m hoping “Junior” can get to victory lane!

What do you think of my show “In The Pits” with co-host Bill Ryan? We’ve just celebarted our 7th year on the air and don’t miss my newest Race report every Thursday night on WCSH 6 Television out of Portland. It comes on at the top of the hour at 7pm..!

Action, Action, Everywhere!

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Hi all,

Pretty neat..I interview James Hinchcliffe of Newman Haas Racing and the rookie goes out and has his second great race ina row, picking off another top 10 in the IZOD Indy race in Brazil..great action around our area..Johnny Clark hasn’t missed a step, picking up the seaon opening PASS North victory at Beechridge and Nick Sweet thrilled hometowners in Barre with his win in the ACT Merchants Bank 150 at Thunder Road!

And yes, I won the competition this week between Shoe and Joe and myself in the “Big Jab”  series, correctly picking Kyle Busch as the winner in the Crown Royal 400!

Get back to me, okay?

A Big Weekend of Racing!

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Hi all,

What do Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin & Jimmie Johnson have in common..how about that between them they have won 7 of the last 8 races at Richmond! Hey we’ve also got the IZOD Indy Car Series in Brazil for the Sao Paulo 300 and you can hear my interview with rookie James Hinccliffe on “In The Pits” Friday on Sports Radio WJAB 96.3 from 9am-10am.

And we’re busy here in New England with the PASS Tour at Beechridge Sunday for the PASS 150-go Ben Rowe, and listen to my interview with PASS President Tom Mayberry..and the American Canadian Tour is at legendary Thunder Raod for Sunday’s 13th Annual Merchants Bank 150!

Guess what? We cover it all, so stick around and check in, okay?

The IRL is coming back to back to New England

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Hey everybody..I had a great interview with oe of the rising stars of the IZOD Indy Car Series today, which will be rebroadcast on my show “In The Pits”  this Friday between 9am-10am on Sports Radio 96.3 WJAB.

Had a chance to talk with Rookie James Hinchcliffe from Toronto and Newman Hass Racing. He’s a great kid with lots of enthusiasm and a bit of a comedian which you need at this level of racing.

Hope you’ll check into the show because we’ll also be talking with Tom Mayberry of the PASS Tour as they get set to kick off their Northern PASS Tour at Beechridge this weekend!

NASCAR’s Big Mistake!

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Sorry, but most of you know how I feel about this issue of Cup drivers being able to run any Nationwide or Camping World Truck Series race that they want! So what if they don’t get points, it’s embarassing to see the point leaders in the Nationwide and Truck Series with no wins and virtually no chance of winning!

At the end of the year, mark my word that you’ll have  a Nationwide Champion with a bunch of top 10′s and few, a FEW Top 5′s and zero wins. I’d be interested in hearing what you think.

Best, John

JUNIOR’S REJUVENATION!!!

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

So, do you think he’s back? On my show “In The Pits” last Friday Dick Berggren, who I’m sure you all know from his “Pit Reports” on FOX, said that Steve LeTarte, who by the way is a Maine native, has got this guy back on track, literally! Letarte  has made it comfortable for “Jr” again and let me tell you that with Talladega coming up this weekend, the timing couldn’t be better, because Earnhardt has won at the Bama’ super speedway 5 times and at one point, won four consecutive races there!

Let me know what you think and don’t miss our show on 96.3 “The Big Jab” at 9am every Friday. Tomorrow we’ll be talking with Jerry Gappens of New Hampshire Motor Speedway about the upcoming Fantasy Drive Day on April 23rd. See you at the track!  John Williams

Imagine!!!

Monday, March 28th, 2011

It’s hard to imagine ever seeing Jimmie Johnson give up a lead, especially with just one lap remaining, but on Sunday at Fontana that’s exactly what happened when Kevin Harvick passed the fine time series champ on the last lap to win the Auto Club 400 for his first Cup win of the season. Kyel Busch who led the most laps finished third with Matt Kenseth and Ryan Newman rounding out the top five!

Busch dominated Saturday’s Race!

Monday, March 21st, 2011

The Gibbs Racing star held off pole setter Carl Edwards and defending race winner Jimmie Johnson in the closing laps to win Sunday’s Sprint Cup Jeff Byrd 500 for his 20th career Cup win, completing a weekend sweep at one of Nascar’s legendary and toughest tracks. Busch dominated Sat’s Nationwide Series Scotts EZ Seed 300 for his 45th win in that series, just 4 short of Mark Martin’s career record 49!
