The Chase 101: and here we go..10 races..four rounds of elimination ending with a Sprint Cup Champion..how does it work? It’s actually pretty simple..
There are three rounds prior to the Championship at Homestead-Miami..the Challenger Round at Chicago, New Hampshire & Dover..the Contender Round at Charlotte, Kansas & Talladega..and the Eliminator Round at Martinsville, Texas & Phoenix
3 races in each round and at the end of each of those rounds, 4 drivers will be eliminated ending with 4 drivers vying for the Championship in Miami…
It’s all about finishes..the top 12 among the Chase drivers after the Challenger Round..the top 8 after the Contender Round..and the top 4 after the Eliminator Round..and after each round points are re-set and all drivers still eligible are tied..
Finally a win at any of the races during the 3 rounds prior to the Championship means automatic advancement into the next round..
And at Miami? 4 Drivers start tied and whoever finishes highest is the new Cup Champion!
