So far the racing has been about as good as it can get and Phoenix was no different! Stewart Haas star Kevin Harvick banged doors with Joe Gibbs racing’s Carl Edwards over the final quarter lap with Harvick’s No. 4 Chevrolet winning the drag race to the finish line by `1 one hundredth of a second, about 4 inches to win the Good Sam 400 in the closest finish ever at Phoenix International Raceway in a one lap overtime thriller with Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch & Dale Jr finishing up the top 5!
And the Indy Cars are back and the 50th anniversary celebration season for team Penske got off to a rousing start with veteran Juan Pablo Montoya controlling he last half of Sunday’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, driving the No. 2 Chevrolet to the win in the season opener for the second consecutive year, leading teamate Simon Pagenaud to the checkered flag by over 2 seconds with Andretti Autosports Ryan-Hunter Reay filling out the podium!
